Here is the BUZZOV-EN / K.LOYD interview that is also undergoing updates...

Its been about 6 years since the world has heard from you ..for some its good to hear that you are
still breathing what have you been doing for the past years..?

well I haven't been doing a whole lot to be honest. In 98 I returned to Charlotte from Wilmington after doing the "at a loss" tour and entered into a longterm detox/rehab because I was once again strung out on herion.that tour had gone very bad for me because I was still struggling with my addiction even though I had been for some time around the "at a loss" recordings. anyway I have remained in Charlotte since 98 and I have beeen through some ups and downs with my addiction and I was also locked up a couple of times. I had started writing and playing acoustic a lot while I was in a halfway house in 98/99 . Thats were I started the work and basis for k.Lloyd. it was funny cause all the guys in the halfway house would call me john cougar or "country boy'. actually it was in jail where they called me "white devil". the Last 2-3 years I've actually stayed clean for the most part and I started recording "Pure Pain Blues" at the Wigg shop in Raleigh with Mike Dean. engineering in feb of 2003. I got the idea and introduction to recording there with him after talking to Pepper Keenan at a Down show at the House of Blues in myrtle beach. the reason I stopped about midway through finishing the album was I was broke and couldn't afford any studio time. Also I was very in about singing and had very little confidence in the way I was doing vocals on the songs. You would think it would be easier to record acoustic stuff but its actually very difficult and you can hear every little thing. anyway music wise this is all I've done since 98. I did do some shows with bottom back in 2000 and we also did a Buzzov-en reunion gig
in Wilmington on 1 of 3 shows other than that I've just been trying to live and not lose my mind.......

What do you have planned for this new project? K.lloyd and the brown bag?

The plan for K.lloyd is to finish "Pure Pain blues" for nerot recordings and hopefully it'll be out by late 2005 then I plan to do some K.lloyd shows . Also me and Dixie have been talking of regrouping me him and Ramzi to do a new Buzzov-en record for Alternative Tentacles . They are doing a reissue of all the allied stuff called "welcome to Violence". also some time this summer me and Jimmy Bower are planning to do a project we have talked about for years called GATOR. It will be straight up old blues and outlaw country type stuff.....

Are you planning on going on the road again with
K.Lloyd or any one else?

I do plan on doing some shows with K.lloyd as for a Tour I don't really know at this point. I'm kind of taking everything 1 day at a time. The Buzzov-en reforming I think could turn into a small tour maybe in witch I would probably do K.lloyd opening ...but who knows really at this point..

People are saying you might go out with sour vein is this true??

I have discussed with T-roy about playing guitar for their next record. I'm pretty sure he is getting that together so we will see.I doubt I would go on tour with that project though. T-roy is my bro but my heart is really in my solo project and developing it as much as possible

Words are around that there might be a re release of some old Buzzov-en shit what can you tell us about that?

Well I guess I already spilled the beans on this question. The reissue on A.T. will have the "to a frown" l.p. and the "wound" 7" and the "Unwilling to Explain" 7". They may re release some of the other stuff if we can get the legalities worked out.

What can you tell us about what went down with roadrunner if anything?..

Nothing bad went down We were actually rev ed up to do a second album with them after I had gotten out of rehab the first time and it was known me and Ash were both still using I think they decided that it would be too risky to invest more money in us. So they drooped us as "high risk". We jumped into that deal too quickly anyway. The ironic thing is that we had actually bee told by Biafra and Greg Werkman (A.T. manager) that Alternative Tentacles wanted to sign us but of course Roadrunner has more money and bigger budgets for recording ect.. So we opted for that Witch obviously became a mistake in the long run .I think you can still get "sore " off the Internet. I doubt we
will ever be able to reissue that cd just because of legalities ect...but who knows..

The last recordings of Buzzov-en are hard as fuck to find what happened with off the records?

As far as i know Off the records folded. It is possible (I think) that "At A Loss" may be re released in the near future .not on off the records though.

Also the unreleased Revelation ....sick again has been passed and traded for years in the underground ...even maybe remastered ....what can you tell us about the why it has yet to see an official light of day?

The story with that is we had a little single page bullshit contract for 2 records with Off the Records and that dude called Hydra Head making stupid threats and I guess it scared them enough to delay releasing it .and as Hydra Head grew it got pushed by the wayside. I think Hydra Head still intends to release it and I've heard its been bootlegged other than that I don't know.It would be nice to see it come out.

All the albums always had bad ass art how did you end hookin up with: Harvey Bennett Stafford?

Harvey had done some work with the melvins and John Yates of Allied Recordings knew him so thats how we got the cover for" to a frown"

Craig Lima?

Craig sent us a photo of the cover of unwilling and a promo shot of Buzzov-en to be autographed and I fell in love with his work on the spot.He has done some really amazing shit.

Arik roper?

Arik Roper did a t-shirt design for us that was a play off on the sleep astronaut shirts. We were good friends with sleep and we had Arik do an astronaut drinking a beer and blowing his brains out. after that we met him and stayed with him up in new york and I really dug his work and decided to have him do the cover for "Gospel..." on Allied . Arik became a good friend and still is. Hes doing the entire art and layout for "welcome to violence". After doing the work for us I introduced him to sleep,Jimmy Bower,EHg...ect...and now he's doing quite a few other bands. he deserves it because he is an awesome artist and hes really into heavy music as well.. Craig Lima became a good friend of the bands too we just never kept in contact with him being on the west coast. I've always tried to find new artists and get
them to do Buzzov-en exclusively but you can't expect anyone to do that because they are trying to get exposer and also make a living too! I'm just glad Arik has remained underground to some extent and still will do work for us ... his work is really awesome..

Who designed the logo baby with the electrical cord?

I've never know who designed that. I found the image in a book! in fact I don't even remember the book its
been soo long ago.

Is there any way to find some sewer puppet music and were you involved in any other bands?

NAH.Sewer Puppet only did a demo tape and its long gone.I don't even have one myself. only buzzov-en and my solo stuff. This is a big reason I'm real excited about doing the GATOR project with Jimmy Bower. I think in the future I'll try to do more in the way of other projects. Also I guess I still may play guitar on the new Sour Vein record.

What thoughts do you have now on drug abuse.?....do's ....don'ts....?..

Man thats a huge question, there is no right or wrong answer. I know for myself no one could tell me shit. I
had to go through every thing I went through to learn a thing. Its a wonder I'm still breathing and walking today. It is still a struggle and my only advice is don't try it in the first place. I realize now that I can abuse anything. I have an addictive nature in every thing I do . If it makes me good I want it and I want it constantly. I know that the hell I've gone through has made me a stronger person but also in a big way it has made me weaker as well have a healthy fear of certain things now and I most defiantly think things through before acting on something now but you know some of that comes with growing older as well. You know I honestly don't have a problem or think badly of people that smoke weed and drink..ect.ect. But some of us (me) just can't control myself with really anything. Once you cross into the "dark side" as I call it , there is no turning back. I know I will struggle with this disease (addiction) until the day I die. In some ways though its a good thing cause it keeps me aware and being to hell makes you appreciate alot of little things that most others don't. I've lost a lot of friends and bros to fucking drugs but for some reason I've survived. Drugs will always be a big part of music and the music scene but I think that now its not like expected to do drugs. If anything people are more aware now and its more of a cool thing not to be fucked up. Sometimes I miss the highs but when I look at the big picture I don't desire that shit at all. Drugs destroyed Buzzov-en plain and simple. In 1995 it was because of mine and others in the bands own addiction to heroin that led to the demise of the original line up of Buzzov-en. Drugs have been the source of most all of my problems . Let me take that back, Ive been the source of my problems, drugs just help me accept and keep going with and through the CHAOS and FAILURE.

What are the chances we could ever see you having Buzzov-en rear its ugly head again...?

Right now I don't know.I doubt that the original lineup (brian ,ash ,kirk ) will ever be possible if for no other reason than the miles that separate us. as far as the line up from "at a loss" and "Revelation....sick again" there is a possibility but it would probably be to do one more album and maybe a small u.s. tour or a tour in Europe. But like I said its only talk at this point and I just don't know.

Well we can't wait to hear more from you in the future were can we look for future news on K.loyd?

Hopefully within the next months or so there will be a website up solely for k.lloyd and Buzzov-en. Until then I would say keep your eyes on neurot recordings website and Alternative Tentacles websites . Anyone can email me at Wound13@...... Don't forget to pickup buzzov-en "welcome to violence" and K.lloyd "purepainblues" The Buzzov-en cd will be out in April
